FESTIVAL time in Mansfield has certainly grown and gets busier each year.
Over the past 10 days Mansfield has seen the continuance of the Arts Council’s Spring Arts, the full 50 plus events held through High Country Festival, including the Mansfield District Racing Club’s Melbourne Cup Day, and finishing off this last weekend with another fabulous Targa High Country.
And although the weather was not the kindest the previous weekend for the festival, most events went ahead as planned and were successful.
All of this activity has meant a boost to tourism and the economy of the town and the shire in general.
Economic and tourism manager for Mansfield Shire Council, Ian Geer, said on Monday these festivals bring fresh money into town.
“We try to minimise the peaks and troughs and it is important that when we are at our peaks, businesses are ready for the influx,” Mr Geer said.
