Under 16 cricketers get going after a wet week

Mark Sampson

JUST FOR OPENERS: Sam Thomson opened the innings for Mansfield late in the day after Mansfield dismissed Rovers Bruck for 68.

AFTER a very wet week, Lords head groundsman Ken Cousins produced an outstanding wicket, allowing the batsmen to play their shots, while giving bowlers a bit off the wicket to trouble the batsmen with.

Playing Wangaratta Rovers Bruck, Mansfield captain Joel Sandford won the toss and elected to bowl.

The openers of Bramich and Moore for Rovers Bruck played the opening bowlers with ease, until Nick Howland struck, bowling Moore for six, with the score at 19.
This brought gun batsman and Rovers Bruck captain Josh Levesque to the crease.

He was looking confident until big Joe Kallahea, bowling in his second over, struck and Levesque was bowled for a duck.

O’Donohue was the new batsman and he took the score on to 42 in a fine partnership with Bramich, who was caught by Sam Thomson off the bowling of Will Christopher, for a well-made 23 runs.
