Despite numerous injuries it’s a horsey life for Paddy

Paddy Purcell has spent his life working with horses, from rodeo to steeplechase

HISTORY WITH HORSES: Paddy Purcell has spent his whole life working with horses, in one way or another.

BY the time he was 25, Patrick “Paddy” Purcell had broken his leg four times, his collarbone, his ribs and had sustained a serious back injury.

What caused his injuries? Horses.

What animal does he still work with today? Horses.

Born in 1981 in Queensland, Paddy has spent his whole life riding, shoeing or being bucked off horses.

Part of the Merrijig Purcell family, Paddy returned in time for his school education, but when he was 14 decided to pursue a career with horses.

Though they would eventually be the cause of his broken bones, Paddy is as happy-go-lucky as any man about his move into the equine industry.
