As Mansfield’s shire ranger, Norm has become a household name in town

RANGER NORM: Everyone knows Ranger Norm who has been fondly adopted by the residents.

IT is not often that the town’s local laws ranger is fondly adopted by the residents.

But ‘Ranger Norm’ is no ordinary ranger, having shown more than once his caring side.

Norm Hussell was born in 1962 and spent his first 10 or 11 years moving from naval base to naval base.

“Dad was in the navy so Crib Point and Garden Island were the main places he was stationed,” he recollected.

“From grade five, I lived with my grandparents and attended Benalla Technical School.

“I left school at 17 and looked for any job that would give me money to help out.”
