Delatite A grade living on a knife’s edge

THE outcome of the match between Delatite and Benalla Violet Town United played at Mansfield’s Lords Reserve is up for grabs.

Languishing at 5/29, Benalla Violet Town United showed why it is second on the Wangaratta and District Cricket Association A Grade ladder with a resilient fightback.

A 53 run stand between Simon Holmes 34 and Sam Hazell was followed up by an even better 80 run partnership between Hazell 62 and Fintan Brazil 45.

Their determination certainly blunted Delatite’s bowling attack which had carried all before it prior to this batting trio’s arrival.

When the score reached 6/162, Delatite regrouped and blasted out the last four wickets for just 11 runs, leaving Benalla Violet Town United all out on 173.

In fine form were Delatite frontline bowlers Lachie Millen 3/34, Nathan Purcell 3/37, Mitch Purcell 2/25 and Pat Marks 1/32.
