IT’S fun, it’s sporty and yet at times there can be fierce competition – all in good sports.

The ‘Rookies’ competition at the Mansfield Bowls Club can be ‘heard’ on Monday nights with lots of laughter as participants have a great night of bowling.

From as young as 12 years of age up to – well no age limits – everyone taking part agrees that the night is the best night of the week.

Rookies runs from November through to the end of February – or thereabouts – as a competition with even a little trophy at the end for the top team.

Not only is the night full of fun, but bowlers learn the skills of the game while getting their exercise and making new friends.

“It’s great…I’m new, but love it – it is just enough for me with exercise,” said new player Kath Johnson.
