Motorcyclist killed at Tolmie

MANSFIELD Highway Patrol and general officers attended the scene of an accident just south of Tolmie on Thursday afternoon where a motorcyclist died.

The fatality has brought the number of motorcyclists killed this year to 17 – 12 during the month of February.

The 75 year-old man from Wagga Wagga died at the scene of the accident and was believed to have been travelling with other motorcyclists.

It is understood the rider was travelling south-bound on Mansfield-Whitfield Road when he ran off the road on a left hand bend, between Spring Creek Road and Sawpit Gully Road, about 12pm.

It’s believed the motorcycle went down a steep embankment and hit a log.

So far this year 17 motorcyclists have lost their lives compared to six at the same time last year.
