Skinner waits for Rio decision

ANXIOUS WAIT: Mansfield trap shooter Catherine Skinner is waiting to hear if she is selected for the Rio Olympics.

LOCAL clay target shooter Catherine Skinner has an anxious wait over the next few weeks before she learns if she has made the Australian Olympic team to go to Rio.

Her recent form saw her win bronze medals at the 2016 Qatar event, and a fourth placing at last week’s Australian Cup 2 competition.

In Sydney none of the women had straight out wins which would have put them into the Rio team – so it is now up to the selection panel to choose which shooters they believe might bring home the medals.

Australia Cup 2 took place at the Sydney International Shooting Centre, and was hosted and endorsed by Shooting Australia.

The event was a Rio 2016 (quota) selection event.

The Australian Cup 2 was the last in the selection process and although the men’s were decided, the women’s final team is still up in the air.
