MANSFIELD Shire Council will continue to focus on sustainable cost reductions to protect service levels under its 2016/17 budget – released last week.
Council’s total budget is set at $4.5 million for asset renewals and upgrades.
The proposed budget also funds $1 million for new assets.
The budget as proposed allows for a total income of $20.9m with total expenditure at $18.6m; an operating surplus of $2.3m and an underlying surplus of $0.9m and a capital works program of $5.5m.
“This budget maintains existing service levels which will be funded through a mix of rates revenue and use charges,” said Mayor Paul Sladdin.
Cr Sladdin said council has not included the use of new borrowings to fund the capital works program in the coming budget.
