THE Mansfield Shire Council welcomed a new look Environment Advisory Committee (EAC) recently when a number of community representatives were included on the board.
The EAC meets bi-monthly to advise on the direction of council’s environmental management programs and policies, as well as advocate for the adoption of Environmental Best Practice through council business, facility management and service delivery.
Last month, three new community members were included on the board, as was two youth representative from the Mansfield Secondary College.
Local agronomist Matt Mahoney, tourism operator and ecologist Nicky Goudberg and Landcare member Robyn Rattray-Wood were officially welcomed by Councillor Marg Attley during the meeting, as were students Pia Rankine and Millie Bell.
“It is fantastic to welcome the new community members to the Environment Advisory Committee,” Cr Attley said.
“Environmental issues are particularly relevant to younger community members and it’s great to hear from their perspective.
