Seniors Week had something for everyone

SENIORS Week again proved to be extremely popular and well patronised by Mansfield and district seniors.

At the launch of the festival on Monday, October 3 at the Mansfield Golf Club, over 60 attendees braved miserable weather to come out and celebrate the start of a week of activities and fellowship.

Mayor Paul Sladdin opened proceedings, welcoming everyone and acknowledging the role that seniors play in both our local shire and the wider community.

His job of spruiking the many events for the week was made extremely easy, as he noted that almost all of the events had already been booked out.

Guests then heard a very entertaining and interesting recounting of local Barwite family history from the 1930s onwards, thanks to Robert Friday.

Early agricultural practices, and the value of horses for work and transport was explained, noting most horses in the district were shod where the Target store stands today.
