THE “Hunters” won the Dragon Diesel Challenge after a very close match with the “Target shooters” on Sunday afternoon.
Conditions over the weekend were perfect at the Violet Town Shooting Complex when the East Central District Rifle Association (ECDRA), in conjunction with the Australian Deer Association and the Euroa Clay Target Club (ECTC), staged the 2016 Dragon Diesel Challenge.
The warm up event on Saturday afternoon is the “Billy Sing”.
John Hamilton in the Herald-Sun of February 9, 2015 described Billy Sing as “Australia’s most lethal military sniper”.
The match is for the best score with five shots at 500 yards from a cold barrel with no sighters, just as the Anzacs had to do it.
The match proved to be very close with Marty Kelly taking the “cock of the walk” and first place in F class with a score of 28 out of 30.
Andy Friedel took first place for the hunting class with 27.
