Under 14 Eagles’ wings clipped

UNDER 14s football this week saw the Eagles travel down the highway to take on third placed Wangaratta Imperials.

The Eagles had played the Imperials way back in round one and were comfortable winners.

The coaches noticed at the time that the Wang side was one to watch as they had class players with overall bigger bodies.

The first quarter saw the game straight away become a real arm wrestle with the Imperials obviously setting their sights on an upset as they weren’t allowing the Eagles to play their run and carry game.

Parks in the centre along with Dunstan, Butterworth and Buchanan had their hands full containing the drive the Wang boys were creating.

Down back the players were under immediate pressure from the bounce, and the attack on the ball of Menhenett and Harding was instrumental in containing the damage.
