EVEN in summer, the ladies continue to compete against other clubs and come out winners – this time it was the summer pennant comp.
After a washout of the last home and away matches of the summer 4BBB pennant season, and with Christmas looming, it was agreed the missed round would be played at Mansfield last Friday.
The decision was that the team at the top of the ladder would be declared the overall season winner, rather than pushing out the season a further week with the usual finals.
With all four teams having a chance to top the ladder if their cards fell the right way, it made for an exciting last round, with Mansfield playing Bright and Jubilee taking on Myrtleford.
At the end of the day, Mansfield were 2/1 victors over Bright, while Myrtleford beat Jubilee 2/1.
These outcomes consolidated Mansfield’s position on top of the ladder and therefore they were declared the season winner, followed by Myrtleford as runner up.
