A surprise $50,000 for station precinct

HOT on the heels of the four-years-in-the-making $220,000 High Country Hub launch just days before at the Station Precinct, Nationals’ deputy leader Senator Bridget McKenzie came to Mansfield on Friday brandishing another generous cheque for the precinct.

Though the station platform was lined with dozens of people just days before, there were only two surprised museum volunteers to greet the Benalla-bred Senator McKenzie on her arrival.

The secret obviously hadn’t got out the box yet, even though Mansfield Shire Mayor Paul Volkering had just days before promised that the station redevelopment would be coming “very soon”.

The look on the ladies’ faces told the story when Senator McKenzie informed them she was there to present $50,000 for the station..

“This investment will assist to further activate the previous site of the Mansfield Railway Station at the edge of the local township,” she said.

“This offers a fantastic opportunity to redevelop the area and create a vibrant tourism hub and meeting place for locals and visitors alike.
