Candidates reveal local issues at election forum in Mansfield

THE Mansfield District Business Association put on an election forum last Monday night, with six candidates and approximately 150 people from Mansfield, Wangaratta, Beechworth and Benalla showing up to discuss some of the issues across Indi.

With the largest field of candidates seen for many elections, Eric Kerr (ALP), Helen Haines (Independent), Helen Robinson (Greens), ICAN Candidate for the Senate Kammy Cordner Hunt, Shane Wheatland (UAP) and Steve Martin (Liberal) introduced themselves before they, through Dean Belle (moderator), were asked questions from the public.

Mr Belle was very pleased with how the night went.

“To have so many engaged locals attend, especially after having had to change the date, was very encouraging,” he said.

“We were very grateful to the Uniting Church for having made their hall available for this event.”

Mark Byatt (Nationals) wasn’t able to make it on the night, but he had Bill Sykes (former Nationals member for Benalla) step in to introduce himself and answer questions.
