AFTER building up their confidence in previous weeks, the Mansfield Eagles’ winning momentum came to an end against Kyabram on Saturday, losing by 72 points.
The team headed into the match against the ladder leaders with high hopes, but all too easily were the players stripped of any chances for a win.
By the end of the first half, Kyabram had doubled the Eagles’ score; and then, at the end of the third quarter, the Eagles had kicked 3.6 (24) to the Bombers 10.7 (67).
However, the numbers on the scoreboard weren’t a reflection of playing coach Andrew Browne’s feelings post-match.
“We may have got beaten by the Bombers but on the whole, we weren’t actually that bad,” Browne said.
With eight odd players out of their playing team for the week, the side roped in a few boys from the reserves and under 18s for the match.
“They played reasonably well,” Browne said.
