Low numbers, no snow and season off to poor start

SNOW TIME: These children were having fun in what little snow there was – all good playtime.

ONLY 15 per cent of average annual visitors have managed to visit Mt Buller in the first four weeks of the snow season (starting from Queen’s Birthday weekend).

Figures released by the Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council (ARCC) show that this time last year (2019) some 115,456 people had already visited resorts across the Alps with more than 57,105 making it to Mt Buller and a further 246 to Mt Stirling.

And although the official start of the 2020 season did not come in until June 24, numbers, mostly due to restrictions from the COVID-19 lockdowns, allowed on the mountains and no natural snow at this stage, visitation is still very low.
