$11 million lost from local economy

AN estimated $11 million is what businesses in the Mansfield Shire stand to lose if COVID-19 restrictions remain in place into summer.

Using the total output of local tourism dollars as a guide, which comes in at just over $11 million, a complete write off of the 2020 year will strip the economy of all that and more as locals struggle to remain afloat.

With all but essential travel restricted, those that rely on providing accommodation are looking at a loss of 100 per cent of their winter markets, while cleaners, handymen and even laundry services are all feeling the flow-on effects.
