OCTOBER 2 is proving to be a very successful date for Mansfield’s Max Fricke, as on the exact fourth anniversary of his U21 World Title win in 2016, Fricke roared to his first ever Grand Prix win in the Speedway World Championships in Poland on the weekend.

Fricke topped the podium ahead of series title chasing trio, Maceij Janowski (Poland), Tai Woffinden (UK) and eventual winner Bartosz Zmarzlik (Poland) in a night that saw a turn around of his fortunes in the series.

In a revised COVID-19 affected campaign, the usual 10 – 12 round championship, which is normally contested throughout the season across Europe, was run over eight back to back meetings across four weekends in Poland and the Czech Republic to ensure a 2020 World Champion would be crowned.
