REMEMBERING THEM: The Mansfield RSL Sub-Branch is currently selling Remembrance Day items outside Mark’s IGA Supa Store in High Street in the lead up to Remembrance Day, November 11. Peter Mahoney (pictured), RSL member and past veteran, was on hand last Friday to help raise funds which go towards welfare support for veterans. A Remembrance Day service will be held on November 11, at 11am precisely at the Menin Gates, Highett Street, with the sounding of the local CFA siren, followed by a short address. MANSFIELD residents and visitors will once again commemorate the ending of the Wars this Saturday, November 11 with a short service to be held at the Menin Gates, Highett Street commencing just prior to 11am.
The MAD Orchestra will play music for a short time before 11am when the CFA siren will sound marking the 11th our of the 11th day of the 11th month - once called Armistice Day.
